Pet Of the Month

Jimmy

This months pet is a pussy cat named Jimmy. Jimmy is 10 years old and
belongs to Dr Rachael. He has recently had a big adventure, which all started when Rachael moved house in February. As often happens when you move house, particularly if you don't move very far, this pussy cat decided he like the old house better, and kept "going home" to the wrong place!!

Luckily we were able to find him there most times, but one day Jimmy couldn't be found anywhere. Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and we thought we had lost Jimmy for ever. But then all of a sudden Rachael's old neighbours started seeing him again!!

Quick as flash Rachael was down there calling him, and Jimmy came running out from her old neighbour's backyard to greet her. He cuddled and smooched her all the way home and is now very settled in his new home. All up Jimmy went missing for three months, and lost 1.5kg, but he's now fattened up and very happy to be home with his family.

Some tips on keeping your pussy cat when you move house - all cats are different, and some will settle far easier than others. It is best to try and keep your cat locked indoors for 2-3 weeks when you first move, so they get used to their new surroundings.

Remember to keep their food and water and cat litter tray accessible for them. Also give them lots of cuddles and TLC to make them more relaxed in their new home. Also get your cat microchipped, so if they do run away, if someone finds them your cat can be identified and reunited with you.

Dr Rachael is very happy to have her Jimmy home, and won't have to move house again now for a very long time, so thankfully Jimmy won't be having any more big solo adventures!!! Thanks for coming home Jimmy!!
